Every story has a beginning. Gotz’ story starts with a guitar, a past, a love of Country, Folk & Americana music, and songs that had to be written.

The son of a Holocaust survivor, he grew up carrying an inherited weight — an acute awareness of how history lives in the body, how memory passes between generations, and how much goes unsaid. That reckoning is at the heart of everything he writes.

Before he ever recorded a song, Gotz spent years as a professional auctioneer, raising millions of dollars for causes he believed in and learning, night after night at the podium, how to hold a room. He also served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Paraguay, where he taught beekeeping — and came home with a storyteller’s eye for the quietly extraordinary.

His debut album, The Auctioneer, will draw from all of it: love and loss, this American moment, and the strange, winding, full life that brought him to this music.
